Program Minutes Since the program launch, at the end of February 2008, we already have several veterans who have expressed interest in the program. We are happy to say, one veteran, Mark Myers, from Dallas has successfully passed a bench test (a bench test is designed to determine if an applicant has the technical and dexterity skills necessary for success) and will be attending watchmaking school in September.Mark was in the Army from 1977-1998 where he was a Senior Gunnery Instructor for 560 soldiers. He honorably retired as Sergeant First Class (E-7) after 21 years. Another veteran from California has been doing watch repairs part-time and is interested in learning more complicated movements. There are others from Montana, New York, Virginia, Dallas, Washington and Puerto Rico. They are waiting to be connected to retailers/service centers for skill assessment. We also were contacted by a retired US Navy veteran who attended the Joseph Bulova School of Watchmaking and is a Certified Watchmaker. He runs a home-based watch repair business in California and has offered mentoring advise for any interested veteran.
