Paris Junior College is home to the oldest school of Horology operating in the South. It is an original and not a part of a franchise. Therefore, the main educational focus is on providing training that meets the needs of independent businesses. Most of our graduates eventually become self employed. Since 1942 people have come here to learn watch repair and become part of a worldwide family. The program is part of the internationally recognized Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology offering Degrees and Certificates in Jewelry, Gemology, Horology, Cad/ Cam and Lapidary Arts. This collaboration is unique in our industry and enriches the learning experience.

The Horology Program is 1760 hours and takes 16 months. The curriculum has been proven to develop employable market place skills in a short time frame.
Mechanical wristwatches are the primary focus of study at TIJT. The courses cover the basic watch, as well as automatics, calendars, timers and chronographs.

Electronic and Quartz watches in all their different forms are also studied. Accutrons are also offered as an elective. TIJT is the only school that still offers training in all facets of these collectable tuning fork movements, both American and Swiss.

Students can get a Certificate in Horology, or elect to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Horology by taking additional academic classes. Both can be completed in 16 months. Students can also earn a certificate in Fine Mechanical Watch Repair.

Tuition is based on residency status for 12 credit hours Per semester In District =$534.00 - Out-of-District=$894.00
Plus a Lab and Instructional Fee each semester of $96.00

There are 3 semesters a year/ a person can complete the course in 4 semesters

Classes meet Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. during Fall and Spring and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Summer.

Paris Junior College is approved for veterans training under the provisions of various federal and state laws. Veteran affairs are administered through the Office of Student Financial Aid located in the Administration Building. Veterans who are applying for VA educational benefits are advised to call VA to inquire and verify VA eligibility. The telephone number of the VA Regional Office is 1-888-442-4551. Also required are a completed Application for Education Benefits (Form 22-1990) and an official copy of the DD-214.
